Welcome to Cajon Pass Pictures Archive

Friday September 3, 2004

Early morning and today both Ed Harrison and I went through out the pass to railfan for the day. This day was the most slowest day I had ever seen in a very long time.  The first stop was at Sullivan's curve.

A second set comes up.

A view in the opposite direction.

This is a shot of Tunnel 1

And the consist that came through.

Then a two Dash-9 helper set came through.

This is one of my favorite shots.

And another.

Then through Mormon rocks a six engine consist came through.

From a different vantage point looking down at main 1&2 in the afternoon.

Looking down at main 2 at Pine lodge.

After that we headed back up to Sullivan's curve and hiked to the top, well close. The hike up was very difficult and dangerous, I don't recommend this hike. But here is a nice shot of BNSF consist.

From the opposite direction a UP came and stopped, the crew had hit the 12 hour mark.

Same engine, but nice shot with the flowers.

Then another BNSF consist came through with a CN.

Back down through Swarthout a unique shot of a SD60M with wing herald on the front, never seen this before.

The last shot of the day was quite a set with a new Dash-9 paint job and a SD40 tunnel motor.

And that's all for today.
