Welcome to Cajon Pass Pictures Archive

I decided to take the day off and head up to the pass early to see how the action was on this Friday....extremely poor.  I guess all the stores have received their Christmas delivers because all morning I only saw about 9 train consist go by 11:00 a.m.  But that's ok because part of my photography strategy is to check out different areas at different times of the year, and it paid off.

The first shot is through Alray, notice the nice lighting.

My standard shot through Cajon Station.

And another consist came through, notice the black unit.

Then another shot through Alray as the train is about to enter the first Tunnel.

And the last shot of the morning of a nine engine consist.

And the idiot shot of the morning.  He was going to fast and couldn't make the turn, he hit the hill and flip over.  This is just before the on ramp to the Kenwood entrance South on the 15.

An newly repainted BNSF engine through Kneebrook.

The next shot I had to plan out, this is through the second tunnel as the helpers start to go through in the afternoon.  To my surprise I got an added bonus, the back engine shoots a huge black smoke up as you will see in the next few pictures.

Then I caught number 4900 through Swarthout.

And another through Swarthout also.

The last shot is in South Colton as the sun is setting with two ex-SP units sitting in the yard.
